Bali and Food Experience

Could you think of a better destination for your 1st ever decent vacation? Ok, Maldives might be better, but let's leave it for our next discussion, now it's time to explore Bali!

This post is amazing - it'll put you in my shoes, so let me go back in time, go back to summer. Let's take these first steps and just go for it. To give you just the right amount of information right now, I'm going to split my story into 4 or 5 (haven't decided yet) amazing stories.

Food Lovers Story

There're a few things about my food choices which might seem weird from your perspective but somehow my favorite foods are not coming from Asia, I'm rather choosing Italian or any other cuisine that's not spicy, fishy, too salty, etc.

Sorry food lovers but we all love a bit differently, here are my top favorite places that I found and visited while traveling Bali + Penida Island.

1. MieBujuh Karangasem, Bali

This cafe is not all over the place on social media but somehow I got happy and found this cute place between so many small, nasty local diners.

Nice vibe, Bali

It's not close to Ubud, so from what I aw, the farthest from Ubud you are, the lower the quality. BUT. With people, it's the opposite. Kinda like in Ubud most of the locals saw me as a money kid.

Back to food. So this Miebujuh cafe had offered a nice menu with local dishes a well as other foods in their interpretation. For example, I chose to get burger + fries + Oreo smoothie. The burger was super spicy because of their outstanding chili sauce, fries were just on top and smoothie, well I'm not sure but after like minute after the lady brought it, Oreo part moved to the top leaving the water clean. But why not? You know I love challenges and finished my mean as planned. The total cost of the whole meal was under EUR 3 or USD 3.32 - not bad.

2. Blue Earth Village, Abang

Loved it! Amazing place to enjoy the sunset, around 5 to 6 pm. Everyone sitting on their pillows, snacking around outstanding food and sharing their life stories with other travelers. It's an open type of place where you can feel the sun on your skin, fresh air in your hair and ocean sounds - magical.

I love pasta - good pasta, Bali

Jumping to food, I got pasta carbonara and a glass of Sprite. Usually, I don't go with super sugary drinks at least I choose not to buy them. Also, I tried pizza - wasn't super good but still better than in most places. Meal cost EUR 7.57 or USD 8.39 - pricier but definitely worth it.

3. Gulali Donuts, Sukawati

When you don't want to get normal food, it's time for donuts! Super sweet, sticky and fresh as this little shop is actually baking them, not using frozen ones. I chose to get 3 different ones for lunch and yes, I loved it. I + carbs are love. (laughing) A total of 6 donuts cost me EUR 2 or USD 2.22.

Yes, you can choose all the flavors, Ubud

4. Few more great places to visit

Secret Penida Cafe, Penida Island - my favorite place on lovely Nusa Penida island. Got some Beef burger with potatoes, Sprite, and cappuccino. The only place where I met Latvians + catch Island feeling.

Suka Espresso, Ubud - a great place to have a proper dinner. As you're probably heard, Bali is famous for its fruits and vegetarian bowls - that's what I took and loved it. Fresh, tasty and just the right size. At the same time, the closer to Ubud center you get, the higher will be the prices. The normal bowl price in the center area is EUR 4.45 or USD 4.93. If you visit this place, take bowl not the burger - burgers might contain some small warms, yes, found one.

Dragon fruit smoothie bowl, Ubud

Twist, Ubud - well may I speak now. If you want to have a proper burger, then go for it. I followed TripAdvisor's advice and got the biggest one they of course had. (funny cuz I almost never can eat the whole thing). Price: EUR 5.48 or USD 6.07.

Siam Sally, Ubud - Last and one of the top 3 places I loved to find myself. They know what a great place should offer to a tourist. They have it all prepared for you - live music, special offers for drinks and lovely location. Definitely recommend it for dinner, the atmosphere there is worth all the money. Left around EUR 20 there.

Chicken something :), Ubud

Sometimes you just have to go for it. You still can travel on a budget and enjoy the food, atmosphere, and yourself being alive right now!

The best breakfast I had in Bali

As I mentioned earlier, this is the first story from my trip to Bali, trust me, the best is on its way - beaches, temples, accommodations, and waterfalls. Is there something else I missed? Leave a comment with what you'd like to see as the next post.
