Where to stay in Bali

Bali really offers a full range of accommodations. There are luxurious ones that you can see in every 2nd Instagram post and there are cheap ones, that not many people talk about, I guess because they're not that pretty. I'll tell you more about something in between those two - middle option - not too cheap, not too expensive but still includes breakfast and a nice environment (tropical, sunny, light).

1. Grandmas Plus Hotel Airport, Denpasar

Great place to choose if you want to stay close to the airport, know that you'll be super tired after a long flight and want to get there as soon as possible. The hotel provides an airport shuttle, SPA procedure in case if you have a late flight, a restaurant just downstairs, a small pool + the staff is very helpful, and a bit loud in the morning so if you can't wake up they'll be there for you singing next to your door.

2. Uma Shanty, Amlapura

Homestay place pretty close to Lempuyang temple. I know it doesn't make any sense to go that far and in this order but by accident I booked the trip and messed up a bit so this is the 2nd accommodation. The hotel is pretty small, lovely, with big fishes in the pool (too small to swim with them), and very close to locals. I get to see so many traditions, lifestyles, rice fields, kids and even how they cook. If you decide to go so close to Balinese (Bali people) be aware that they are very religious, don't judge them. Here I learned to say thank you - suksma.

3. Green Valley Guesthouse, Penida Island

Want to live on a mountain? There you go.

Nice sunrise, pretty little houses, great booking.com rating but not so good at the nigh time + THAT mountain. 3 days on Nusa Penida is just enough to see what needs to be seen (a couple of beeches, mountains, a lot of stairs). Wake up, have a snack (breakfast included, was way too small), put on a suns cream (everywhere) - GO! Later I'll show you the video, it's just unbelievable, poor motorbike almost didn't make it. Wouldn't recommend.

4. Pecatu Ubud Guesthouse

The nicest place of all. They have a rooftop pool (not as amazing as the one in Bangkok but still good), tasty welcome drink (dragonfruit smoothie), no aunts or spiders, maybe only one huge rat in the room but not 100% sure about this. :D

I loved how they made a new offering (like a small basket with flowers, money, honey, and salt in) to their gods every day and put it on every motorbike saying that it will make the driver safe. Well, the previous hotel didn't do it and I had to visit the local hospital.

These places you probably won't find in any other blog because they're not really "instagood" + traveling on a budget for so many people are not something they'd like to share. Well, here I'm being 100% honest. I tried, I'm trying and will try to make the best out of every day. The world is like an open book, dive in, it's cheaper than you think.

I can't wait to start the next post. Waterfalls!

Thank you for sharing the last couple of minutes with me. Suksma!
